An Engineer by education.  A Craftsman by blood.  An Artist by life experience.  Mike McHugh, Founder of Crafted by McHugh, brings well thought-out designs to the workshop and crafts unique pieces of art that are beautiful as well as functional.

I work closely with clients to create fully custom pieces with quality workmanship.  Creating well-made products that will last generations is my passion.  This passion is literally in my blood.  In 1937, my grandfather, James F McHugh, built a grandfather clock.  James was the son of an Irish immigrant living in the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania during the great depression, so money was scarce.  He found scraps of wood to create the case; turned cherry from a downed tree for the spindles; and scavenged a brass plate from an old coal chute, which he acid-etched to form the face of the clock. He even handmade his own tools—lathe, table saw, band saw, router, and drill press.  The only thing that he bought were the clock works.  This true grandfather clock was passed on through the generations and sits in my living room to this day.  The clock works have been replaced twice, but the case still has the same finish that was brushed on by James more than 80 years ago.
